Additions to the MPCC Metro Parent Child Center

November 4, 2016 12:46 PM

The Metro Parent Child Center (MPCC) provides on-site child care for children of Metro student parents. In exchange for this onsite childcare student parents work one period each school day in the MPCC providing care for children ages newborn to 3.

Over the summer an additional classroom was added to the childcare corner. This additional room doubled the space for both the infant and toddler childcare groups.

The MPCC is licensed by the Department of Human Services and has two yearly assessments. Standards based research shows that shock absorbing "fall safe" rugs are best for infant and toddler areas, especially around climbing structures. The MPCC co-directors began researching new rugs for the new infant and toddler rooms. Working with a Child Care Nurse Consultant SafetyRugs from Safe Landings were purchased to meet specific research-based guidelines.
