For the 1st time ever a Metro student, Nick Robertson, performed at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) All State Festival on March 27, 2017 at UNI. Nick performed in the category of Literary Program with a humorous piece exploring the concept of unintentional rudeness.

stateSpeech teachers Mary Vizecky and Sarah Collingsworth were ecstatic, "We couldn't be more excited for Nick, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer student!"

"Going to All-State is an awesome way to end my high school career. I can't believe it". Nick is a senior at Metro and will graduate in May. He has always been interested in acting so he enrolled in Metro's Speech class. At state, Nick was awarded a medallion that he will wear at graduation.

All-state selection requires being nominated by at least two of the three judges at the state event. "Making it to All-State is an incredible honor for a student,” noted Mary Vizecky.
