Sarah Collingsworth attends Gates Foundation ECET2 Conference

From The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, "ECET2 (Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers) was born out of a desire to provide a forum for exceptional teachers to learn from one another and to celebrate the teaching profession". Read more about the conferences here.

Sarah_in_San_DiegoMetro Social Studies teacher Sarah Collingsworth was chosen from nationwide applicants to attend the 2016 ECET2 Conference in San Diego, California. Relationships Are all Around Us, Culturally Responsive Teaching and Using Design Thinking were just a few topics presented.

Principal Dr. Carlos Grant received notification from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation about Sarah's nomination. This national conference brings teachers together to share their successes and learn from each other. It is designed for teachers and by teachers. Teachers are selected based on recommendations from their peers and from their administrators. Carlos acknowledged Sarah's nomination, "She is definitely a shining star in our building and deserves the ability to network. Congratulations to Sarah for this profound honor."

Sarah Collingsworth thoroughly enjoyed the conference, "It was fabulous! I wish all my colleagues could share this elevating experience."
