United Way's Volunteer Group of the Year

Metro's Service Learning class was selected as United Way's Volunteer Group of the Year for their support of the Meals on Wheels program at Horizons. Service Learning teachers (2011-2012) Bev Grindeman-Adams and Lynette Richards worked with students to deliver three routes every week for area home-bound seniors.

volunteer-of-year-award1Metro student, Paula (Meyer) Pino began this initiative in 1999. The program has continued at Metro since 1999 with help from numerous staff including Laurie Lee, Staci Mangrich and Jerry Nelson. The award was presented at a breakfast on April 20, 2012. A $500 donation for Metro's Student Achievement fund was also awarded. Congratulations to all the staff and students involved in this project through the years.
